Title: Splitting Lanes
Tags: Lane Splitting
Blog Entry: Today, on my way home from work the traffic was pretty bad at one point early on. When I first started riding years ago I was against splitting lanes. Just wasn't at ease with it. Over the years I have gotten more and more comfortable with it and so I really have no problem doing it. The only problem that I do have is when people eat into the center of their lane with their cars. While splitting lanes today I came up on a pickup truck that was pulling a flat-bet style trailer. I guess used for heavy equipment or even cars for that matter. Well, when Im scanning the center of the lanes as I am riding through I am first looking to see if there is enough room to fit then I look to make sure that I am not going to smack someones mirror. Now that I have a bike with 17 inch apes that had never been more important. This trailer got past my rador. My style of riding causes me to allow my feet to hand off the sides of my running boards which today didn't do me any favors. While trying to pass the truck my foot got caught on the trailer (which hurt like a mother f@#$%er ). It hurt so freggin bad that as soon as I could I got off the road so that I didn't pass out and crash! It hyper extened my foot in the opposite direction and I am not sure if it is broken. I am going to have it X-Rayed tomorrow. Too much pain to go today! Luckely, I did not dump my bike! The only thing that I hurt is my foot. Screw the trailer! I also hit the tire (luckely) of the car on the other side of me. Also, it is a good thing that I did not take the heel shifter off my bike as I wanted to because this was the only way I was able to shift to make it home. Needless to say I wont be riding for a while. Not a good idea to do with the risk of dropping the bike bacause I am not able to support the weight.
