Report for Old Town HD

Okay kids, I'm going to post up my Push Start articles here because some of my friends aren't in Tampa and will never see the mag unless I send them one. I'll post up every time I pen a new piece. Here it is, take it for what it's worth which ain't much but I hope you get a kick out of it anyway!

The weather was nice and cool as I cruised down US 301 towards home. The temperature was brisk, right where the Sleepster likes it. Old Town Harley Davidson was the scene of the massacre. The massacre in question was the untimely demise of three Avon rear tires. It’s quite amazing what a Buell XB12S can do to a tire when smoked on asphalt.  Team Extreem – the Factory sponsored Buell stunt riders were out there putting on a great demo! Todd Colbert, Adam Chamita, and Chris Nichols round out the day’s riders and as always, the boys did not disappoint. I saw circle wheelies, tank wheelies, stoppies, and a lot more. If you’ve never seen these guys, it’s worth checking out at least once. This was my second time. I’m no advocate of stunting a bike on the street. It gives us a bad rep and it’s not worth risking your life, but at a demo, it’s a really cool thing to see.  My favorite trick is when Todd Colbert rides the handle bars and gets that front wheel off of the ground. He can ride a wheelie like that for days. These guys make it look easy. They’ll be competing in stunt wars early next year. The grand finale was great. All three riders smoked the tires until they blew! Chris' rear wheel caught fire. It was a pretty amazing sight.  Check them out on the web at http://www.teamxtreem.com/.

There was a good selection of vendors on hand. The Greg Billings band played the event and they’re always good and always fan-friendly. Some would call them the best local band ever. The weather was perfect and the crowd was impressive. Everyone had a very good time. Old Town seems to host great parties. I’d bet that there were better than 500 bikes on hand at any given time that day. This was my first event at Old Town; I can’t wait for the next one. Don’t forget about Thursday night bike night at the Smokehouse. There are lots of cool events coming up. If you see ole Jimmy Deuces out at one, say hi. Don’t forget to check out the calendar of events. It has all of the latest dates and information for you. Be on the lookout for the Push Start Party Posse, we’re going to be all over the place!
