Well last friday I received my Purple Heart for my injury in Iraq. Myself and 3 other Soldiers received Purple Hearts together. It was kind of a mixed feeling of yes I know I deserve it but do I want it kind of feeling. I never wanted to receive one as I alway felt it was a way of showing that the enemy hit his mark. Not to mention my injuries were internal head injuries, caused by explosions that would knock people out. In the Military they call it Mild Traimatic Brain Injury or just TBI for short. This form of TBI is still new to most and is difficult for doctors to be able to help identify and help heal. But any way this is an injury that cant be seen but if you know what to look for can be identified, yet for us Soldiers that suffer from this wound it becomes hard to deal with as there is no physical outside wound. So at times it can be hard to deal with and for those that also have PTSD even harder. So recieving my Purple Heart friday left me with mixed feelings. But to all that support the Troops, thank you so much and please continue to do so as we fight to keep our great nation safe and out of harms way.
