Funny Familiar Feeling- every new year
Here they are again.. staring at me from the corner of the table, the "Zen Inspiration" on top of "The Kite Runner " representing the books and next to them latest edition of "The ecconomist" and "Men's Health" magazines completing the literary elements of my annual resolve for self improvement.. one more time with feeling!
It happens every year, acyually as I get oledr it seems to happen more than once a year, my appetite for 'bettering' myself, keeping up to dat with the analysis of current fairs, reading a 'good book' every month, taking up excercises 3 times a week and achieving the elusive 'six pack'- I am painfully realising that at my age the only six pack that i can achieve will have 'Budwiser' written on the side!
This year, I am ready for it.. only two books and two magazines and only for 3 months..! hey, it is not a race, and i have come to realise that i am not Captain Kirk afetr all!!
It is a liberating feeling, finding one's own pace and limit and living within that.. as a friend of mine said a few yers back "don't try and be perfect, its hard enough just to be yourself...and thats just got to be good enough". I did not understand her at the time.. what is it with women? They seem to be a few years ahead of their time every time..! But thats a subject for another blog for now i am gonna read 'The Kite Runner' with the same spirit that i tackle the last of the 6 reps of crunches..! I will finish iot even if it kills me..!! there is age, wisdom and sophistication for ya...!
