Oklahoma State Laws

I thought I would post the Oklahoma state laws pertaining to street bikes! Just remember to also check for other city ordinances  for the city you may be riding thru.

Especially Helmet Law's! 

I know Norman,Ok. has one because I got a ticket there!

Road Bikes



 



Safety Helmet Required by law under age 18



State Funded Rider Ed Not Available



Eye Protection Required by law unless equipped with
windscreen



Daytime Use of Headlight Required by law-modulating
headlight permitted



Passenger Seat Required if carrying a passenger



Passenger Footrest Required if carrying a passenger



Passenger Age Restriction None



Helmet Speakers No Restrictions



Periodic Safety Inspection Not Required, although Law
enforcement may, upon reasonable cause to believe that a vehicle is unsafe or
not properly equipped as required, require that the driver of the vehicle stop
and submit the vehicle to an inspection by the officer.



Mirror Left(L) Right(R) Two required by law



Radar Detector No Restriction



Turn Signals Required on all model year 2005 and later
motorcycles, per 47 O.S. Section 12-606. Title47



Muffler Must be equipped with a muffler or other
effective noise-suppressing system in good working order and in constant
operation.



Maximum Sound Level No person shall modify the
exhaust system in any manner which will amplify or increase the noise or sound
emitted louder than that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the
vehicle.



State Insurance Requirements Compulsory Liability
(Minimum Limits)(10/20/10) - Insurance discount available for 3 years following
completion of motorcycle accident prevention course. Excludes graduates
attending pursuant to court order.



Handlebar Height No higher than eye level of the
operator



Rider-Education Waiver Skill Test



Accept Motorcycle Endorsement From Other States Yes



Motorcycles operating two abreast in same lane Not
referenced in Administrative Code or Statutes



Lane Splitting Not referenced in Administrative Code
or Statutes
