Baker for lunch

It started off cold and cloudy.
I left home at 9am to pick up some fuel and run some errands before meeting up with everyone later.
I don't know how cold it was but I was bundled up like I was riding up north or back east. Felt like the Michelin man. I could barely get my leg over my seat.
Doug showed up at my place at 10am and he had on more layers than I did.
But then again, he's old. lol.
We cruised over to Coyote Corner so he could get gas and wait for everyone else to show up at 10:30.
We sat and talked for a while then doing what we hate most on a leisure ride like this. We started calling people to see where they were.
We got the usual excuses, to cold, don't feel good, to windy, to cloudy, it might rain. Everyone had an excuse. Doug and I both said the hell with them, lets ride.
It was cold and we could feel a light breeze and there was clouds in the sky.
We figured we'd ride to Shoshone and have lunch there instead. Well depending on the weather.
We left at about a quarter to 11 and it felt good. Cruised a few side streets then we hit the highway towards Death Valley.
No one was on the road. I think we say maybe four or five cars and a few bottom dumps going into Pahrump.
But no one in our direction. As we rode, the skies got clearer. We hit the curves right before getting to Shoshone and stopped at the stop sign.
I asked Doug how he was doing. We both decided that the hell with it, lets make the left and finish our ride to Baker.
We cruised about 60mph and relaxed. I think two cars passed us and nothing else was on this road until we hit Baker.
We went to the Mad Greek restraunt and had a couple of Gyros and talked about what a great ride it was and how the day turned out so nice. No wind, no clouds and it was even warming up a bit. We both peeled a few layers off for the ride home. We passed one truck on the way home. No animals to see this trip but pools of water from the rain that had hit that area not to long ago.
Just under 200 miles round trip. What a nice day ride.
